Moving Stories. Inspiring Change.

We are social impact filmmakers working with the change makers of the world to tell moving stories that inspire and uplift humanity. Over the last 25 years we came to specialize in short form documentary style films and commercials that focus on social and cause marketing- driving donations, building awareness, and mobilizing supporters to action.

We are award-winning storytellers who put our clients objectives at the forefront of our work, bringing huge heart and immense value to every single collaboration. Organizations return to us for our 3 decades of filmmaking expertise, and because of the deep care we take with the stories we tell. We are personally invested in how the work ripples into the world. To that end, we partner only with organizations doing the essential work of making the world a better place: more empathetic, enlightened, and just.

At Humans Being Media, we stand by the premise that a healthy society is an empathetic and equitable society. We commit to the ongoing learning and practice of dismantling white supremacy, patriarchy, and ableism- within and without- and seek out stories that amplify the voices of marginalized communities. We create our films with the intention of evolving culture for the better. We acknowledge that we work and live on the territorial traditional land of the Coast Miwok People in Petaluma, past and present, and honor with gratitude the land itself and the people who have stewarded it through the generations. We commit to learning how to ourselves be better stewards of the land we inhabit, along with the stories we tell.

We’re honored to be selected as a finalist for the 5th Annual Anthem Awards, for our YouTube series “Time Together: Empathy in Action”, in the “Video” category for “Awareness of Civil or Human Rights.” The Anthem Awards is the purpose/mission-minded arm of the prestigious Webby Awards, hailed as “the internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times.

We are also thrilled to be the winner of Best Documentary at the Texas Short Film Festival in Austin for our 30-minute documentary “Going Inside: Empathy in Action,” which is currently making the festival circuit and will be available to stream later this year. We are fundraising for an accompanying documentary ‘Going Outside,’ following some of the men we interviewed, who are now being paroled, into their free lives.
