Homeward Bound of Marin
Homeward Bound of Marin is the primary provider of Marin County homeless shelters and services for homeless families and individuals in Marin, California. The mini docs we produce reveal the ongoing human transformation that highlights the incredible work this organization performs.
We create a new series of mini documentaries every year for YouTube but more importantly they use them as an educational tool for their celebrity chef events and donor meetings. These mini docs illustrate the primary brand services offered by this incredible nonprofit. It has been a wonderful experience over the last decade to help them create this documentary format for their nonprofit, as well as a rich pool of content for their social enterprises Wagster Treats, Fresh Starts Culinary Academy, and The Key Room.
Filming these emotive mini docs with a minimal crew, and sometimes even solo, allows for an added intimacy with the camera acting as witness to a personal journey of transformation. Maintaining eye contact with the interviewees as much as possible creates a personal connection and allows the viewer access to the most vulnerable storytelling. The rapport built beforehand paves the way for this intimacy on camera. We build the content during the initial 'master interview' stage. The client is present and helps to monitor the verbal content to align with brand goals.
Our films focus on the human story of homelessness and how the organization offers shelter, housing, training and hope. These films are screened at public and private fundraising events, schools, and more, and shared on social media to raise brand awareness and help drive donations. Kaitlin Mini Doc

30 years on the streets within a 6 block radius
Robert became homeless. As a paranoid schizophrenic, the system was stacked against him. His life was a day to day survival until 30 years later when he was surrounded by the care and support he needed. Coordinated Entry is a collective in Marin County that has formed to end Chronic Homelessness and help people like Robert move from basic survival to having physical, emotional and mental support, employment, and a place to call home.
